The folks behind the Evasi0n jailbreak are among those "thanked" for uncovering security holes patched in the latest version of iOS.
Apple may view iOS jailbareakers as a thorn in its side. But
the company credits some of those same people for finding certain security
holes now fixed in iOS 7.1.
In a page describing the security issues corrected in
Monday's iOS 7.1, Apple gave the nod to evad3rs, the team responsible for the
popular Evasi0n jailbreak. Specifically, the evad3rs were behind the discovery
of four different security holes.
But jailbreakers aren't the only ones having all the fun.
Several separate researchers and other individuals were also credited for
digging into iOS to uncover security flaws.
Among those mentioned by Apple were an Italian Computer
Science student named Filippo Bigarella, security researcher and Google
engineer Michal Zalewski, information security consultant Guillaume Ross, and
German security researcher Stefan Esser
With iOS 7.1 now out, the game is once again afoot. How long
will it take enterprising jailbreakers and security reseachers to poke through
the holes in the new version?
